Breaking News: Alex Gets the Call

An opening on and upcoming card has given Alex White the shot he has been looking for.

Former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown was pulled from his April 19th match-up with Estevan Payan in Orlando due to an injury. In steps White, a Destruction MMA product out of Farmington to make his Octagon debut against "El Terrible."

Unbeaten in nine pro fights, "The Spartan" is diverse with solid striking while submitting five of his opponents.

Former Strikeforce standout Payan seeks his first UFC win.

White has scored notable wins over Javon Wright, Charon Spain, Adam Ward, and Roy Babcock, and has started receiving national recognition leading up to his January bout with Adam Rider at Rumble Time's Rumble at the Chase. White tapped Rider with a triangle in the first round.

White joins St. Louisans Tyron Woodley, Josh Sampo, Lance Benoist, and Alp Ozkilic in the pinnacle of mixed martial arts.

UFC on FOX 11 takes place April 19 at Amway Center in Orlando. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The White/Payan bout takes place on the evening's FOX Sports 1 broadcasted preliminary card.

Payan has suffered back-to-back losses to Jeremy Stephens and Robbie Peralta. Prior to the setbacks, the 31-year-old Arizona Combat Sports product had won seven straight fights, two while under the banner of Strikeforce.
