Turkish-born Alp Ozkilic finally received the call he had been waiting on.
Coming off a lights out performance at Legacy FC 20 where he defeated Antonio Banuelos, Ozkilic will enter the historic Octagon at UFC on Fox 9, December 14th. Ozkilic KO'd Banuelos just 30 seconds into their fight this past May. The win over Banuelos rocketed the 27-year old flyweight into the top 10 rankings, clearly putting him on the UFC radar.
A match-up with then Legacy champ Wil Campuzano never materialized, and sparked a controversy when Legacy stripped Campuzano of the belt for refusing to fight Ozkilic. Ozkilic will be following Campuzano into the UFC ranks where a potential match-up could still be possible.
It was announced late last week that Ozkilic's teammate Josh Sampo would also be making his UFC debut joining their teammate Lance Benoist as one of only four active UFC fighters that call St. Louis home.
At UFC on Fox 9 in Sacramento, Ozkilic will be taking on Darren Uyenoyama who is 8-4 in 12 fights. Uyenoyama lost to #1 UFC ranked flyweight Joseph Benavidez in his last outing and has won 4 of his last 6 fights. A third generation Japanese-American, Uyenoyama fights out of San Francisco, CA.
The UFC flyweight title will be on the line with Demeterious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson takes on Joseph Benavidez. Ozkilic will be replacing the injured John Moraga on the card.
