Fight Hard: Brandenburg vs Wyatt - Preview

Fight Hard MMA's annual July summer party returns on Saturday. With the heat starting to rise, there's no better place to be than the cool confines of the St. Charles Family Arena.

This year's event will be headlined by a women's strawweight title between Susie "Mama Beast" Wyatt and Sheena Brandenburg.

The two met last October with Wyatt submitting Brandenburg midway through the first round.

Wyatt has been written about, featured on the local news multiple times, and recently the subject of a Webster University student documentary. The 50-year-old Wyatt, is one of the oldest competitors in the area still lacing up the gloves and has won two in a row.

Brandenburg defeated Shawn Stevenson in February before dropping a submission loss to Kelly D'Angelo in April.

The co-main event will feature "King" James Mottershead returning for his third Fight Hard appearance. Mottershead defeated Seven Corner Road's Cristian Santana and Vi Ngyuen back-to-back and will take on Trevon Crawford. Crawford won in June over Ian Havener at Prime FS.

Miguel Lisboa (2-1), one of the best kept secrets in the area, will return to action against Johnny Cox. Lisboa, out of Pedigo Submission Fighting, has nasty submissions and won a IBJJF World Championship in 2014 in the men's white belt division. He most recently took out Keith Gorden in June with a 30 second armbar victory.

Cox (7-1) has an impressive resume but hasn't competed in MMA in over two years. Cox defeated Trevor Lanzone and Trevon Crawford before taking an extended break. Despite that he's primarily a Muay Thai fighter, all but two of Cox's wins have come by submission.

The scrappy Josh Boyer from Berger's Fit or Fight will face Joey Scanlan in a strawweight clash. Boyer (3-2) is the owner of a highlight reel head kick KO at Cage Championships last summer that saw i's way onto Inside MMA and other national MMA outlets. Scanlan,(5-5) fighting out of Southwest Missouri, has won four in a row.

On the undercard keep an eye on Rachel Stockham and Savannah Shahan. Stockham out of Hahn MMA always puts on exciting fights.
