Guns 'N Hoses - Event Preview

The 27th Annual Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses event will take place Wednesday at Scottrade Center in downtown St Louis.

The event features area police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel from Missouri and Illinois. Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses has raised more than $4 million since 1987 to benefit The BackStoppers, a non profit organization that assist families of police officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Both male and female fighters are schedule to appear on a card schedule to have 12 boxing contests and three MMA matches. This year the event will feature Mixed Martial Arts for the first time

Shamrock Promotions led by Jesse Finney will team up with Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses to bring MMA to the event. Finney understands that filling the 18, 000 seats at Scottrade will make for a great event along with an expected record donation from Shamrock FC.

The Shamrock FC staff and Finney have been active in training competitors for the event. A box-off on November 16th was held at the River City Casino as part of the selection process for spots in the event to compete.

For those in the mixed martial arts community who are not familiar with the event, The BackStoppers provide short and long term assistance while offering families of police officers and firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. All proceeds from Guns ‘N Hoses go to The BackStoppers. The organization was founded in 1959 and also arranges to pay bills, mortgages, debts, college costs and other expenses.

Grey Eagle Distributors and Budweiser have been the title sponsors for Guns ‘N Hoses since the event began in 1987. The event was created by the late Jerry Clinton, who was an avid sports fan and former Grey Eagle owner, and co-founded by St Louis Boxing legend Myrl Taylor
