Lopes prepares for Evolution

By Brett Auten | Knuckle Junkies

Lucas Lopes is on a quest. It's a quest that only ends when his hand is raised in the center of the cage.

The Finney MMA fighter has been on the wrong end of five fights in a row but he seems determined to have that changed on Friday night.

Lopes will take on Eddie Larrea at Shamrock Fighting Championships Evolution held at the Lumiere Place. The 10-fight card featuring amateur and pros will get underway at 8 p.m.

The 6-foot-2 Lopes is a Brazilian native who has a BJJ black belt and a solid Muay Thai background. Lopes is a cagey veteran who has fought for over 15 years and has performed under the banner of high-profile organizations like Shark Fights and Strikeforce. According to Sherdog.com, Lopes had a nice win streak going, beginning in May of 2007. He won six of seven fights but the streak came to an end in April of 2010.

In Larrea, Lopes will face another wily veteran. Larrea is a hyper-aggressive fighter who loves nothing more than putting on an exciting fight for the fans.

"I don't know how (Lopes') body will hold up to the abuse that I put people through in the cage," Larrea said. "Even when I do lose, most of the time people end up getting pretty messed up. I like my style and I think a lot of people like my style as well."
