Prime FS: Chaos in the Cage - Preview

Prime FS, the little sister to Fight Hard MMA is back on Saturday March 21st with its second show. The all-amateur event will feature MMA and K1 as well as several youth K1 exhibitions.

Headlining the event is a heavyweight title bout between "Big" Byron Stevens and Mike Wasem. It's been a while since the 35-year old Wasem has stepped into the cage, and he will have his hands full with Stevens, out of Modern Combat Systems, who scored a big victory this past December at Fight Hard.

In a preliminary match to the joint promotional flyweight tourney, Charles Johnson from St. Charles MMA will take on Erik Newman from Berger's MMA. This is a big step up in competition for Newman, facing one of the area's very best amateurs. Johnson has only tasted defeat one time, at the hands of Fierce Taylor. This is most likely a tune-up fight for Johnson who has been a bit banged up with injuries before a likely professional debut in the summer.

Newman's teammate Josh Boyer will also be in tournament action, but in the 115 division. Boyer is the owner of a highlight reel KO at Cage Championships last year that made it onto Inside MMA on AXS TV. Boyer will be taking on Dean Vaughan for a spot in the straweight tournament at Fight Hard.

James Mottershead and Cristian Santana will scrap in a battle of two seasoned amateurs. Santana is a fun fighter to watch, and will be moving up in weight to take on "King James."

A special grappling exhibition match between jiu-jitsu phenom Andrew Wiltse and UFC vet Chris Heatherly will be a nice bonus to the fans in attendance.
