Shamrock FC: 285 - Preview

Despite a January ice storm that kept locals indoors for most of the week, Shamrock FC filled the Ameristar Casino to near capacity in their last trip to Kansas City.

Their spring return brings a bevy of pro fights, special exhibition grappling, and a full undercard featuring some of the greater Kansas City area's best.

Two-time Bellator veteran Garrett Mueller garners the main event slot. Mueller, with wins over Johnnie Rhoades, AJ Siscoe, and Aaron Potson, snapped a two-fight losing streak in December when he tapped Potson via rear naked choke. Nguyen turned pro in 2016 and went 2-0 with both wins coming by submission.

In the co-main event, Billy Benz will shake two-years worth of rust off when he faces Keeton Gorton. Benz won his pro debut over Zach Mead in March, 2015 at Shamrock FC: Heavy Artillery. Gorton turned pro in 2014 and is 3-3. He went 1-1 in 2016 with a win over Paco Castilo in June.

The other Stephen Thompson will face Calen Born in Born's pro debut.

BJJ purple belt, Steven Graham who fights out of ATT HD will look to shake off a three-fight skid when he faces journeyman Jordan Hernandez. Hernandez stayed busy in 2016 with 9 pro fights in the calendar year.

Continuing to tweak their forumula, in 2017 Shamrock FC will start adding special attraction grappling and kickboxing matches to their cards, the first of which is a grappling match between Jacob Akin vs Codi Peppard.

Ten fights will make up the amateur undercard. In the featured bout, one of St. Louis' top amateurs, Steven Coleman will take one of KC's best Travis Sumler. Fresh off two straight first round TKO's Anthony Goldfield will take on Cody Leas.
