Shamrock FC: 301 - Preview

By Matt Frazier | Knuckle Junkies

In 1803 Lewis and Clark took their expedition west from their base camp in St. Louis looking for new opportunities in the west. Using poles and long boats they stayed upstream on the Missouri River as they pushed north along the river in unfamiliar territory. In January, Shamrock FC will make a similar journey it sets up shop along the banks of the Missouri at the Ameristar Casino, its first time venturing into St. Charles County.

Fresh off his victory at Shamrock FC 300, Adam Cella (7-8) will headline the event and with an opportunity to run it back against Coltin Cole. The two met this past spring in a bout that ended when Cole was hit with an illegal elbow behind the head and could not continue. It was a DQ loss for Cella and part of his six-fight losing skid, which he recently snapped with his dominating performance over Eddie Larrea at SFC 300. The former Hit Squad member Cole (5-6) is was newly married, has been on the shelf since March and will be back training at Arnold BJJ for this fight.

Making his SFC promotional debut, Adam Osmoe returns to action to take on professional strongman Shaun Scott. Scott - the charismatic pacifist - evened his record to 1-1 in Kansas City in November with an impressive submission victory over Anthony Goldfield.

Osmoe (4-1) has been out of action since RFA 44 in September 2016, when he suffered his first pro loss against Zach Fears. Osmoe has kept busy with cross-fit training and by the looks of things, in the best shape of his career. Known for his wrestling, Osmoe uses his size and speed in combination to bully his opponents into submission, having finished three of his four professional wins in the first round. It won't be an easy task against Scott who is a physical specimen himself and can turn this bout into a stand-up fight.

Back from an extended stay at American Top Team, Dustin Lampros will make his professional debut against Joe Roye. Roye (0-4) is a tough, experienced fighter who's struggled to transition his success from an amateur to the pros.

Welterweights Jordan Dowdy and Eddie Larrea will face off in a bout between two hungry fighters desperate for a win. Dowdy dropped to 4-4 with a loss to Ty Flores in September, while Larrea was stopped by Adam Cella at Shamrock FC 300 by Flores' training partner, Adam Cella.

One of St. Louis' top amateurs and a 2017 STL MMA Award Nominee, Corbin Howard will make his professional debut at Ameristar. Howard will take on seasoned flyweight Ray Allard in a 125-pound contest. Allard (0-2) has tangled with locals Charles Johnson and Steven Coleman and will hope to nab his first win over SCMMA's Howard.

Rounding out the main card is Shane Shomidie taking on Joe Freeman

A whopper of an amateur bout stands out on the all-amateur undercard as Luis Felipe takes on Evan Elder in a lightweight bout. Elder has moved out to Stockton, CA to train with the Diaz Brothers Fight Team and has some of the nastiest stand-up we've seen from an amateur fighter. Felipe fights with a style that's heavily influenced by his Muay Thai training but is also an exceptional grappler. Felipe trains alongside teammate and Shamrock FC's No. 1 amateur lightweight, Colin Parr at Watson Martial Arts.

Speaking of Parr, he's matched up with the always tough Justin Lankford. Lankford hasn't been taking too many fights lately, but for a brief time in 2013 he was generally considered one of the area's top featherweights. Parr has been on a roll as of late winning the big fights.

Also on the undercard, Wolves' Den grappler Ryan Daschenzo faces Osar Ahuatzi, Patrick Sparks and Cody Nauke will tangle, and part-time boxer, full-time firefighter Jimmy D'Angelo meets Nick Broussard.

Tickets for the event can be obtained from the Shamrock FC store.
