Shamrock FC Promotional Update - January 2015

By Brett Auten | Knuckle Junkies

Bellator president Scott Coker confirmed a pathway to get to fight for the organization Wednesday night.

Shamrock Fighting Championships, which is partnering with Bellator to bring events to St. Louis and Kansas City, will be able to funnel its champions into Bellator.

Any SFC pro title holder will receive a Bellator contract. If they fight on the undercard the base purse will be $3,000 to show/$3,000 to win. If the bout makes it onto the televised main card, the base bumps to $8,000/$8,000. Another bonus is there are no sponsorship restrictions in Bellator.

SFC will have two titles up for grabs this weekend at SFC: Shock held at the Kansas City Ameristar Casino. Sometime-boxer Jacob Akin will challenge "The Hard Hitting Hillbilly" Kevin Croom for the Shamrock bantamweight title. St. Louis' Josh Weston will travel west on I-70 to take on KC fan favorite Rudy Bears in the main event for the welterweight title.

Coker was announced as the new Bellator president in June, 2014.

Bellator kicks off 2015 on Friday with Bellator 132: Pitbull vs. Straus and will feature a new monthly format for this calendar year. It is a significant change from the previous Bellator schedule of one event per week during three seasons.
