Guns 'N Hoses is a charity event featuring three-round boxing matches between local Police Officers and Firefighters. All proceeds from the event are given to the BackStoppers, the organization that provides immediate financial aid and long-term financial and other support to the families of police officers and firefighters who lose their lives in the line of duty.
The event was started in 1987 and today it has grown to become one of the premiere fundraising events, in St. Louis raising upwards of $3 million. Each year it is held on the day before Thanksgiving at the 18,000-seat Scotttrade Center in downtown St. Louis.
This year's event will mark the debut of mixed martial arts at the previously all-boxing event. Guns N' Hoses will be partnering up with Shamrock FC one of the area's top fight promotion companies. Shamrock FC recently celebrated their 15th anniversary at the new River City Casino Event Center.
"We believe this is a great way for local MMA to give back to the community and move even further into mainstream sports." Jesse Finney, President of Shamrock FC said.
This will mark the 27th year for Guns N' Hoses and with the addition of MMA, could be their biggest yet.
