Ultima Fight Series 1 - Preview

Local legend Steve Berger will be hosting an all-ammy event on Saturday, returning to the cozy confines of the Arnold Eagle's Club, the home of Beejay Smith's Nemesis Fighting Alliance. The Eagle's Club provides an intimate environment for the spectators.

The 17-fight card is full of Berger's pupils and friends looking to get some work in the cage. While short on experience, there's plenty of variety on the card, and it should make for a fun night of action for local fans.

Saturday's main event features Tyler Madding taking on Daniel Jefferson. Madding (6-4) had won three out of his last four before running into the Carl Jefferson (Prez Dent) this past weekend. The young grappler out of the Academy of Courage shows tons of potential, and looks to stay busy with his 8th fight this calendar year. Jefferson has won his last two, but hasn't competed since 2014. It will be interesting to see how he handles Madding's aggressiveness after just returning to training.

Ray Norris from the Wise Warriors grappling gym will face Mark Kirkland in the co-main event. Norris is big and likes to grapple, and should be a handful for Kirkland who returned to action in July with a TKO victory.

Exciting and flashy flyweight Josh Boyer will be in action taking on Brendon Seidelman. Boyer famously made Inside MMA's weekly highlights with a headkick KO in a bout at Cage Champs in June of 2014. Since then it's been a rough road for Boyer who is badly in a need of a win.

Destruction MMA's Bill Smith will face Todd Mikel in a featured MMA bout. Smith is best known for his classic battle with Evan Elder at the Farmington Convention Center when the two were still not old enough to compete in MMA.

Jimmy Timmerberg out of Watson Martial Arts will face Calvin Williams in the marquee Kickboxing bout in a match-up that should make for plenty of fireworks. Also of note on the kickboxing is the return of Celeste Doerwaldt, fianc of Glory Kickboxing vet Quinton O'Brien. Doerwaldt will face Tiffany Wood.
