Xtreme Fight Night 4 - Preview

By Matt Frazier | Knuckle Junkies

When Shamrock FC launched Xtreme Fight Night last November, fans didn't quite know what to expect. With three in the books, rest assured that XFN is here to stay and has a little something for everyone blending kickboxing, boxing, and MMA into one action packed show.

On August 15th, XFN returns with the talented Bosnian fighter Elmir Kulosman making his long await return to action, and an exciting kickboxing match-up between Luke Nelson and Jason Slattery.

Kulosman made his professional debut last February in a victory over Colton Creason and since then spent many months abroad training in Thailand and Italy. He's returned to St. Louis with the goal of getting a few wins under his belt before pursuing big fights like former training partner Quinton O'Brien, who recently made his Glory World Series debut. Kulosman faces the Kevin Brown in a kickboxing bout that could produce a KO if Kulosman is allowed to dictate the fight.

Brown will be making his professional debut after a long amateur MMA career that saw him rack up nearly 30 amateur fights. Kulosman is very technical Muay Thai fighter who trained under the tutelage of Fuad Keranovic and can bully his opponents in the ring if given room to work. Brown will need to get in Kulosman's face early and keep him moving backwards in order to win this fight.

In an exciting women's boxing match Tiffany Leichliter takes on Lori Andrews from CMMA in Granite City. Leichliter made her pro debut on very short notice against Michelle Pearce last month, while Andrews, a stand-up specialist, hasn't seen action since 2011 when she won her professional MMA debut.

Luke Nelson will face Jason Slattery in a pro kickboxing match. Nelson, the former striking coach for Tyron Woodley, has spent most of his time recently with the gang at Watson Martial Arts. Nelson has nasty leg kicks and hard, stiff punches. Slattery has more of an American kickboxing style, a complete contrast to Nelson's traditional Muay Thai techniques. If Slattery can figure out the footwork and range of Nelson, this fight could go to the judges, but don't count out the heavy hands of Nelson. This could easily end quickly and violently.

Out of action for over two years with hand and shoulder injuries, Kyle Walker returns to box Tim Mantle. Mantle will be making his professional debut and is looking to make a permanent switch to boxing from MMA. Walker hits like a truck and Mantle can take a punch, a perfect match.

In the night's only professional MMA bout, the scheduled main event for the scratched Rumble Time event a couple weeks ago has been moved to the main card of XFN 4. "Bad News" Bo Kunz will face James Evans in a heavyweight MMA bout that should produce some heavy hands. Don't look for a lot of finesse in this one, these two will be swinging for the fences.
